Burning Man is a ‘mind blowing’ event. That most certainly is true, if you know nothing about it and suddenly find yourself in the middle of it.

The experience is very difficult to describe. Everybody must participate and spectators (photographers) are sometimes frowned on. So I decided, if I took pictures of people, I should offer something in return. So I brought a small portable printer and offered prints on the spot. The prints were the size of a postcard and could also be used as such. That was great fun and many people found it a pleasant surprise and great gimik – to get a print of yourself in the middle of BM. Doing this, was obviously unexpected, somewhat absurd thing to do, yet making perfect sense, if you think of it – thus perfect for BM ;o).

I like to thank Eric Herrmann for the pictures of the afterburn and the shot of the Burning Man entrance welcome sign used in this essay.

The sets below are chapters from the essay, some as extended versions, and additional chapters that were not included in the final version of the essay.

Can I get my picture?

Of course you can! If I have taken pictures of you, you most likely got an pictureID from me. Mail me this pictureID so that I can identify your pictures.
If you have no such pictureID, mail me a short description of date, location, situation and costume/description of yourself and I will
try to find your picture. I register all mail I receive regarding BM in a database and will match them with consentpapers and pictures.
